This Craig Simpson hockey stick was acquired with the complete team set from every player on the 1990 Stanley Cup Champion Edmonton Oilers. Our consignor received these sticks personally after a game during that cup-winning season.
This white Victoriaville Ultra Vic 4050 hockey stick was game used by Craig Simpson while playing for the Edmonton Oilers during the 1989-90 Stanley Cup winning season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Simpson with the 2nd overall pick in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. After playing college hockey at Michigan State University for a couple of years, Simpson joined the Penguins in 1985-86 and spent parts of 3 seasons with the club before a deal sent him to the Edmonton Oilers in 1987-88. Simpson had a breakout season in his first year with the Oilers, netting 43 goals in 59 games, thus giving him a total of 56 for the year. He went on to play in 19 playoff contests that spring, scoring 13 goals and 19 points and captured his first of 2 Stanley Cups. After 6 seasons in Edmonton, Craig joined the Buffalo Sabres where he completed his career after 2 partial seasons due to chronic back problems at the all too young 28 years of age.
This white Victoriaville hockey stick has the player number and name “18 - Simpson” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. Craig has autographed the blade. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
