Circa 2000's Ryan Oulahen & Sean Avery Detroit Red Wings Exhibition Game Worn Jersey - Team Letter
Lot #229
This red air-knit jersey by CCM was likely worn by Ryan Oulahen & Sean Avery during Detroit Red Wings exhibition games circa the early 2000’s. The Detroit Red Wings selected Oulahen in the 5th round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. After several years with the Brampton Battalion, Oulahen joined the Red Wings organization. He spent 4 seasons playing for their AHL affiliate, the Grand Rapid Griffins spanning 2005-06 thru 2008-09. The Wings wore these sweaters over the course of multiple seasons and Sean Avery wore the player number 42 from 2001-03, prior to Ryan’s arrival.

Avery was an undrafted winger who put in 10 years of service to the NHL. He began his NHL career in 2002-03 with the Red Wings and was an NHL regular thru last season, skating for the Wings, Kings, Stars and Rangers. Thru Sean’s 10 NHL seasons, he had accumulated 1533 PIMS in 580 NHL games and has the distinction of having a rule named on his behalf. “The Avery Rule” came about after Avery’s constant annoyance and screening of New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Broduer during the 2007-08 Stanley Cup playoffs.

This exhibition set size 56 sweater shows fine use in the form of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls, fine pilling, trauma to the rear collar and team-sewn repair work that includes a couple of stitch jobs in addition to a large patched repair on the belly. On the inside hem is the official Detroit Red Wings game worn jersey and set tagging. This jersey will be accompanied by a Red Wings team letter.
