Ward was drafted by the Carolina Hurricanes in the 1st round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. After a few seasons in the AHL, Cam made his NHL debut with the Hurricanes in 2005-06. After 13 seasons and over 300 Wins in Carolina, Cam joined the Chicago Blackhawks for the 2018-19 season. After the 2018-19 season was complete, he signed a 1-day contract with the Hurricanes and retired from the sport. Cam played in the NHL All Star game, won the 2006 Stanley Cup and has a Conn Smythe Trophy on his resume. He played for Canada in 3 World Championships, winning Gold in 2007.
