Description
Bruce Gamble Philadelphia Flyers Autographed 8x10 B&W Photo - Deceased
Lot #494
Gamble played in the NHL for parts of 10 seasons with the Rangers, Bruins, Maple Leafs and Flyers. His best seasons were in Toronto, where in the late 1970’s he started 41, 61 and 52 games in consecutive seasons from 1967-68 through 1969-70. Bruce was the MVP of the 1968 NHL All Star game. Midway through the 1970-71 season, Bruce was traded to the Flyers, where he would play his last 2 NHL seasons. An interested side note to this trade is that he was traded in a deal that saw Bernie Parent go to Toronto.

Although Gamble was a back-up to Doug Favell in Philadelphia, he was competing for the starting job until he suffered a heart attack during a game against the Vancouver Canucks on February 8, 1972. Bruce finished the game and actually traveled with the team to Oakland before being admitted to an Oakland hospital, where it was discovered he had a heart attack. That was his last NHL game.

Ten years later, Bruce died of another heart attack hours after a practice session for an old-timers game in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Gamble died on December 29, 1982 at the age of 44. The photo is in beautiful condition and the signature is a 10.
