Lot #566

This Koho 221 Custom Pro hockey stick was game used by Brian Propp, as a rookie, while playing for the Philadelphia Flyers during the 35-game unbeaten streak and Stanley Cup Finals season of 1979-80. Propp was selected by the Flyers in the 1st round of the 1979 NHL Entry Draft. He burst onto the scene in 1979-80 as a member of a Flyers team that set the NHL record by going unbeaten in 35 straight games. As a rookie, Propp scored 34 goals and 75 points and helped his club all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where they lost in a hard fought 6 game series against the New York Islanders. Over the course of a 16-year career, Propp played in 1016 games, scored 425 Goals and 1004 points. He would take 5 trips to the Stanley Cup Finals, failing to skate away with that elusive win. Propp partook in 5 NHL All Star games and was 4-times a 40-Goal scorer.

This Koho stick has the player name “Propp” stamped on the side. Below the butt in black marker is the player number “26”. The stick is fully taped on the butt and blade. The stick is team signed by 20 members of the 1979-80 Flyers, the team that went to the Stanley Cup Finals as well as had a record breaking and still standing 35-game unbeaten streak. Among the autographs are Brian Propp, Bobby Clarke, Bill Barber, Ken Linseman, Reggie Leach, Mel Bridgman, Norm Barnes, Phil Myre, John Paddock, Frank Bathe, Behn Wilson, Al Hill, Pete Peeters, Dennis Ververgaert, Mike Busniuk and Rick Macleish (d. 2016). It is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
