This item comes from the personal collection of longtime New England/Hartford/Carolina equipment man Skip Cunningham.
These black Bauer Supreme 1000 hockey skates were worn by future Hall of Famer Brett Hull. Hull retired this season 3rd on the all-time goal scoring list with 741. He is a proud member of the 700-goal club, a plateau reached only by Gretzky, Howe, Dionne, Esposito and Gartner. Hull reached 700 goals faster than any other player in NHL history, with the exception of Wayne Gretzky. He is the only player, other than Wayne Gretzky, to have scored 70 goals in a season on three different occasions. His 86 goals in the 1990-91 campaign rank as the 3rd best single season total in league history, behind only Wayne Gretzky who bettered this total twice.
During 1990-91, Hull joined the exclusive 50 in 50 club as he netted 50 goals in his teams first 50 games. That season saw him post his unfathomable 86 goals in 78 games. His awards include the Lady Byng Trophy for the combination of sportsmanship and high ability, the Lester B. Pearson award as the NHL’s outstanding player, the Hart Memorial Trophies as league MVP along with (2) Stanley Cup championships, one during this stretch with the Stars. Hull is a three-time 1st team NHL All Star and is assured a spot in Hockey’s Hall of Fame.
These Bauer skates have Brett's player number "16" on the bottom in black marker. Hull has signed each skate on the blade.
