This blue equipment bag by Tackla was used by Maple Leafs Hall of Fame defenseman Borje Salming. Salming patrolled the Maple Leafs blue line for the first 16 seasons of his career, serving the franchise with dignity and pride. His skill on the ice earned him a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star nomination for 6 consecutive seasons spanning from 1975-80. This feat was accomplished during an era where his contemporaries on defense included the likes of Bobby Orr, Denis Potvin, Larry Robinson, Brad Park, Guy Lapointe and Serge Savard among others.
Borje was among the very first Europeans to play in the NHL and was often physically challenged on the ice due to his Swedish heritage. Salming consistently rose to that challenge and deserves to be remembered for his courage which paved the way towards making the NHL a truly international league. Salming represented Team Sweden in 2 different Canada Cup games, 1976 and 1981, and also represented Team NHL during the 1979 Challenge Cup. Without question, Salming ranks among the all-time Maple Leafs greats and is a most deserving Hall of Famer.
This equipment bag by Tackla has the Maple Leafs logo on all four sides. Salming's player number "21" is heat pressed to the two wide sides. A beautiful equipment back from the Maple Leaf Hall of Famer.
