Description
Barry Beck New York Rangers Koho Game Issued Stick
Lot #274
This Koho 2210 hockey stick was issued for use by Barry Beck while playing for the New York Rangers. Beck was selected 2nd overall, simultaneously by the Colorado Rockies and the WHA’s Calgary Cowboys, in the 1977 NHL and WHA Amateur Drafts, leaving much pressure and hype to live up to for this hulking 6’ 3” defenseman. “Bubba” delivered with an injury shortened NHL career that spanned 10 seasons. When healthy, Beck was a force to be reckoned with as evidenced by his 4 NHL All Star game appearances, a spot on the NHL’s Challenge Cup ‘79 squad and a spot on Team Canada’s blueline in the 1981 Canada Cup. Barry lit the lamp 22 times and totaled 60 points during his rookie season in Colorado. After only 2 plus years with the Rockies, he was dealt in a blockbuster trade to the New York Rangers, the team he would eventually Captain. This physical defenseman delivered a career high 231 PIMS in his first full season on Broadway and was an immediate fan favorite for those who frequented MSG and cheered for the Blueshirts.
Injuries took their toll and cut Barry’s career short, plaguing him throughout the 1980’s and forcing early retirement. After 3 years on the sidelines in retirement, Beck did return to play one final season on the Wayne Gretzky led Los Angeles Kings in 1989-90.

This Koho stick has the faded player name “Beck” stamped on the side. It is un-taped and shows no use. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
