These black Vapor APX2 hockey skates by Bauer were game worn by future Hall of Famer Alex Ovechkin. The Washington Capitals selected Ovechkin with the 1st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in his native Russia for four seasons, Ovechkin made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals in 2005-06 and hasn’t looked back. This prolific scorer is now in his 15th year of service to the Caps. Alex is taking aim at the 700 Goal mark, and already ranks as one of the top dozen goal scorers in NHL history at just 34 years of age! Alex has eight 50-goal seasons to his credit as well as four 100-point seasons. His mantel is full of hardware including the 2005-06 Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, an Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer, three Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s MVP, three Ted Lindsay Awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and an incredible 8 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophies as the NHL’s leading goal scorer! The greatest trophy of all was added to the collection when Ovechkin and his Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018. For his outstanding efforts, Alex won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. Ovechkin has an incredible ten 1st and 2nd Team NHL All Star selections as well as 7 NHL All Star Game appearances. Internationally, Ovechkin has represented his native Russia in numerous World Championships, the 2004 and 2016 World Cups of Hockey and the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Olympics.
These black Bauer skates have the player number “8” on a Capitals sticker on the bottom of each skate. Also on the bottom is the Capitals team hologram. The blades of the skates have been removed. A beautiful item from this future Hall of Famer.
