Alex Ovechkin Washington Capitals Black Bauer Game Used Stick – Autographed
Lot #417

This black Bauer NXG TotalOne hockey stick was game used by future Hall of Famer Alex Ovechkin. The Washington Capitals selected Ovechkin with the 1st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in his native Russia for 4 seasons, Ovechkin came to the NHL’s Washington Capitals in 2005-06 and hasn’t looked back. This prolific scorer is starting his 14th year of service to the Caps and just last season joined the 600 Goal club. Ovechkin scored his 1000-point in 2016-17, joining another exclusive club, and topped 1100 points last season as well, not bad for being just 33 years old.

Alex already has (7) 50-goal seasons to his credit, just missing his 8th last season as he finished with 49. He netted a career best of 65 in 2007-08. Also to his credit are four 100-point seasons and the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year in 2005-06. In his already illustrious career, Ovechkin has captured the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer, three Hart Trophies as the NHL’s MVP, seven Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophies as the NHL’s leading goal scorer and three Ted Lindsay Awards as the NHL’s outstanding player. Also to his credit are seven 1st and four 2nd Team NHL All Star selections as well as 9 NHL All Star game selections. Internationally, Ovechkin has represented his native Russia in the World Championships, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and 3 Olympics. The 2017-18 season saw “Ovie” collect the trophy that had eluded him most, the Stanley Cup.

This black Bauer stick has the player nickname and number “Ovie 8” on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt. The blade tape has been removed so Alex could autograph it. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
