Al Jensen Washington Capitals 1983-84 William M. Jennings Trophy The Al Jensen Collection Al Jensen Letter
Lot #387
GAMEWORNAUCTIONS.NET is pleased to present The Al Jensen Collection. This exciting collection of game used equipment and memorabilia comes directly from the personal collection of NHL goaltender, Al Jensen. Mr. Jensen personally collected and preserved these items that span his days from juniors through his NHL career. A signed letter from Mr. Jensen will accompany your purchase.

This William M. Jennings trophy was awarded to the Capitals Al Jensen, along with his teammate Pat Riggin, for allowing the fewest goals (226) as a team during the 1983-84 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Jensen in the 2nd round of the 1978 NHL Amateur Draft. This Hamilton native made his NHL debut in 1980-81 with Detroit where he played a single game. Al joined the Washington Capitals the following year, spending 6 seasons between the pipes in the nation’s Capital. In 1983-84, Jensen won the William M. Jennings Trophy and finished third in Vezina voting. In February of 1987, the Caps traded Jensen to the LA Kings for Garry Galley. Al wrapped up his NHL career during the following month and a half with Los Angeles. This Goalie’s final NHL won-loss record of 95 Wins, 53 Losses and 18 Ties remains rather impressive.

This beautiful trophy has the NHL shield at the top. In the center is a replica of the actual trophy with hockey sticks on both sides. The plaque reads “WILLIAM M. JENNINGS TROPHY, Winner 1983-84, AL JENSEN, WASHINGTON CAPITALS”. The trophy is in nice condition with a few light scratches and one of the sticks has been reglued. This item comes directly from the personal collection of Al Jensen and will be accompanied by his LOA.
