Description
Al Iafrate Washington Capitals Black Koho Game Used Stick Autographed
Lot #538
This black Koho Revolution hockey stick was game used by Al Iafrate while playing for the Washington Capitals. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Iafrate with the 4th overall pick in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. This Dearborn, MI native spent time with the 1983-84 US National Team and then represented Team USA in the 1984 Olympics before joining the NHL. Al would spend parts of 7 seasons with the Maple Leafs before a deal sent him to the Washington Capitals in 1990-91. Iafrate then played for parts of 4 seasons in the nation’s Capital before finishing up his career with a partial season in Boston and 2 more in San Jose. Looking back on Al’s dynamic career, a classic case of “what if” occurs when contemplating his devastating knee injury in the spring of 1990. Despite his physical setbacks, this rearguard played in 4 NHL All Star games and was named a 2nd Team NHL All Star in 1993. His booming slapshot, which was often clocked at better than 100 MPH and captured the hardest shot event at the Skills competition, helped him eclipse the 20-goal plateau on 3 occasions, with a career best of 25 coming in 1992-93.

This black Koho hockey stick has the player name “Iafrate” stamped on the side. The stick is fully taped on the butt. The blade tape has been removed so Al could autograph it. The stick is uncracked and in beautiful condition.
