Genoway played college hockey for the Fighting Sioux at the University of North Dakota for 5 seasons and eventually became their Team Captain. His career with the Fighting Sioux is legendary and was full of accolades including being a Hobey Baker Candidate. Genoway became the 4th highest scoring defenseman in UND history and left school as the active scoring leader among NCAA Division 1 defenseman with 127 career points. Since graduating in 2011, Genoway spent 3 seasons in the AHL, playing for the Houston Aeros and Hershey Bears. Chay also received an NHL call up from the Minnesota Wild in 2011-12. Most recently, Chay has been playing in Europe in the KHL, his home for the past 3 seasons.
