2008 Derek Roy Team Canada World Championships Game Worn Jersey – “1976 TBTC” – “IIHF-100-year Anniversary” – Team Canada Letter
Lot #164
This white knit 1976 TBTC gamer by Nike was worn by Derek Roy during the 2008 World Championships. The Buffalo Sabres selected Roy in the 2nd round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. This Ottawa native made his NHL debut in 2003-04 with Buffalo where he spent the first 8 years of an 11-year NHL career. After leaving the Sabres, Derek went on to represent the Stars, Canucks, Blues, Predators and Oilers before continuing his playing career over the past 6 seasons in Europe. Roy’s best season saw him net 32 goals and 81 points in 2007-08 with the Sabres.

Sewn to the shoulders of this gamer are the sponsorship patches. Sewn to the rear hem are the 1976 patch as well as the 100-year IIHF patch. This 1976 Canada Cup throwback was worn by Roy during the May 6, 2008 game against Team USA in Halifax. Roy scored a goal while wearing this sweater and helped Team Canada to a 5-4 victory. The game wear on this size 54 sweater is light as would be expected. Shown above is an image of Roy celebrating his goal that night. A beautiful 1976 TBTC that was worn during the prime of Roy’s playing career. This jersey will be accompanied by a Team Canada letter.
