This white air-knit gamer by Nike was worn by Brian Strait during the 2008-09 National Championship winning season. The Pittsburgh Penguins selected Strait in the 3rd round of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Boston University where he won a National Championship in his last game, this Waltham, MA native began his NHL career in 2010-11 with the Pittsburgh Penguins. Strait spent a couple of years with the Penguins before joining the New York Islanders where he has played on their blueline for the past 3 seasons.
Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the 2009 Washington DC Frozen Four patch. Sewn to the right breast is the 25-year Hockey East anniversary patch. Sewn to the left shoulder is the “SC” patch to commemorate the passing of former BU goalie Scott Cashman. The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls and areas of heavy pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Strait wearing this exact jersey during the 2008-09 H-East season. Strait and his teammates wore this set of jerseys throughout the 2008-09 regular season. The jerseys then accompanied the team to DC where the Frozen Four patches were sewn on while they served as a backup set to the tie-down sweaters that BU wore in their pair of games in Washington as they captured the National Championship. A nice opportunity to acquire this multi-patched photo matched NHL defenseman’s gamer from his National Championship winning season.
