Description
2006-07 Stephane Yelle Calgary Flames Game Worn Jersey - "Mike Vernon Night - Photo Match - Team Letter
Lot #260
This home red air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Stephane Yelle during “Mike Vernon Night” on February 6th 2007. Yelle joined the NHL as a rookie with the expansion Colorado Avalanche in 1995-96 and won his first of two Stanley Cup titles later that spring. He played in Colorado for 7 seasons winning two Cups. In 2002-03 Yelle joined the Calgary Flames where he spent the next 5 years of his career, during which time he helped his team to the Finals in 2004 only to lose a heartbreaker in game 7 to Tampa Bay. After leaving Calgary, Stephane spent a year with Boston and a partial year split between Carolina and Colorado for a brief sort of homecoming after which he announced his retirement.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the Mike Vernon patch. On this night in front of the hometown fans, the Calgary Flames made Vernon the 2nd player in team history to have his number retired and raised to the rafters. Yelle assisted on Jeff Friesen’s goal late in the 2nd period that broke a scoreless tie while wearing this jersey. The game wear on this sweater is light consisting of some stick marks on the sleeve and front that is worthy of mention. Shown above are a couple of photo matches of Yelle wearing this exact jersey during “Mike Vernon Night”. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. This jersey will be accompanied by a Flames team letter.
