2006-07 Niklas Backstrom Minnesota Wild Game Worn Jersey - Rookie - Jennings Trophy - Roger Crozier Award - Team Letter
Lot #151
This green air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Niklas Backstrom during the 2006-07 NHL season, his rookie year. After tending goal in the Finnish Elite League for a decade, this native of Helsinki, Finland joined the Minnesota Wild via Free Agency in 2006-07. Since joining the Wild, Backstrom has played the lion’s share of his franchise’s games over the past half dozen seasons. As a rookie, while wearing this jersey, Backstrom won the William M. Jennings Trophy and the Roger Crozier Saving Grace Award. In 41 games played, Niklas won 23 of them, 5 by way of shutout while posting 6 ties and merely 8 losses. He posted a stellar GAA of 1.97 that season! Backstrom is an NHL All Star who has played in the World Championships and made 2 Olympic Teams for his native Finland.

The game wear on this 2nd set size 58 goalie cut rookie sweater consists of stick and puck marks, areas of pilling, especially noticeable on the red collar and a team-sewn repair on the belly. On the fight strap is a black sharpie signature in Backstrom’s own hand. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Minnesota Wild game worn jersey and set tagging. A terrific opportunity to acquire a rather tough to find rookie sweater of one of Finland’s best goalies, and one that was worn during a double award winning season! This jersey will be accompanied by a Wild team letter.
