This home blue air-knit gamer by Reebok was worn by Jason Strudwick on January 12, 2006, Mark Messier Night during the 2005-06 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Strudwick in the 3rd round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Strudwick made his one-game NHL debut in 1995-96 and spent parts of two seasons with the Islanders before joining the Vancouver Canucks in a trade for Gino Odjick. After five seasons in Vancouver, Strudwick spent time with the Blackhawks, Rangers and Oilers before completing his career in Sweden. All told this hard-nosed winger played in 674 games over the course of 14 NHL seasons.
Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the Mark Messier “11” patch. Strudwick wore this gamer during the pre-game warm ups as well as the 1st period on January 12, 2006 as the Rangers raised Messier’s #11 to the rafters. The game wear on this size 58 sweater is on the lighter side as would be expected. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. On the fight strap is a black sharpie “1” indicating it as the 1st period jersey. A nice patched example from a night that the Rangers honored Mark Messier, one of their all-time greats.
