2004 Alexander Ovechkin Russian National Team Game Worn Jersey
Lot #81
This white air-knit gamer by Lutch was worn by Alexander Ovechkin circa 2004 during the Russian National Team’s European Tour. The Washington Capitals selected Ovechkin with the 1st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in his native Russia for 4 seasons, Ovechkin came to the NHL’s Washington Capitals in 2005-06 and hasn’t looked back. This prolific scorer is now in his 9th year of service to the Caps, and at the time of this writing had recorded in excess of 375 goals and 750 points despite being only 28 years old. Alex is 4-times a 50-goal man with a career best of 65 coming in 2007-08. Also to his credit are four 100-point seasons and the Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year in 2005-06. In his career Ovechkin has also captured the Art Ross Trophy, two Hart Trophies, two Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophies, two Lester B. Pearson Trophies and a Ted Lindsay Award. Also to his credit are six 1st and two 2nd Team NHL All Star selections as well as 4 NHL All Star game appearances. Internationally, Ovechkin has represented his native Russia in the World Championships, the 2004 World Cup of Hockey and 2 Olympics.

Sewn to the right breast is the sponsorship patch. On the back beneath the player number is the oversized Visa logo. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls and inner pilling. A simply tremendous early career offering, worn by this mega-star whilst still a teenager, years before he began his NHL career, choice!
