This white knit gamer by SP was worn by Michael Leighton during the 2004-05 AHL season. The Chicago Blackhawks selected Leighton in the 6th round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. After spending 3 years in the OHL, Leighton joined the Blackhawks organization and suited up for Norfolk, their AHL affiliate, beginning in 2001-02. His strong effort that season saw him backstop the team in 52 games while posting a 27-16-8 record with a 2.14 GAA and a .920 save percentage. That stellar effort earned him a spot on the AHL’s All-Rookie Team and he made his NHL debut with Chicago the following season. Michael spent parts of two seasons with the Blackhawks and a total of four with Norfolk. In 2006-07 Leighton played with both the Nashville Predators and the Philadelphia Flyers. Beginning in 2007-08, Leighton joined the Carolina Hurricanes and played with them for parts of 3 seasons before a deal during the 2009-10 campaign sent him back to the Flyers. Leighton dazzled the fans of Philadelphia and led the team all the way to the Stanley Cup Finals where he eventually fell to his old team the Chicago Blackhawks.
