2004-05 Alex Ovechkin Russian National Team Euro Hockey Tour Finals Game Worn Jersey Rookie
Lot #107

This red air-knit gamer by Lutch was worn by Alexander Ovechkin during the 2004-05 Euro Hockey Tour Finals. The Washington Capitals selected Ovechkin with the 1st overall pick in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft. After playing in his native Russia for four seasons, Ovechkin made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals in 2005-06 and hasn’t looked back. This prolific scorer is now in his 15th year of service to the Caps. Alex is the newest member of the 700-Goal club, and currently ranks as the 8th highest goal scorer in NHL history at just 34 years of age! Alex has eight 50-goal seasons to his credit as well as four 100-point seasons. His mantel is full of hardware including the 2005-06 Calder Trophy as Rookie of the Year, an Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s leading scorer, three Hart Memorial Trophies as the NHL’s MVP, three Ted Lindsay Awards as the NHL’s outstanding player and an incredible 8 Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophies as the NHL’s leading goal scorer! The greatest trophy of all was added to the collection when Ovechkin and his Capitals won the Stanley Cup in 2018. For his outstanding efforts, Alex won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Playoff MVP. Ovechkin has an incredible (10) 1st and 2nd Team NHL All Star selections as well as 7 NHL All Star Game appearances. Internationally, Ovechkin has represented his native Russia in numerous World Championships, the 2004 and 2016 World Cups of Hockey and the 2006, 2010 and 2014 Olympics.

Ovechkin wore this sweater as a teenager during the 2-game Final series that pitted Russia against Sweden in the 2004-05 Euro Hockey Tour Finals. The game wear on this size 56 sweater is on the lighter side as would be expected from a two-gamer with some stick and slash marks and pilling most worthy of mention. A tremendous early career offering, worn by a then teenaged superstar prospect in the Euro Tour Finals prior to launching his NHL career, choice!
