Description
2003-04 Shawn Horcoff Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey - "V" - Canadian Heritage Classic - NHLPA Letter
Lot #142
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM and Elite Sportswear was worn by Shawn Horcoff during the 2003 Heritage Classic. The Edmonton Oilers selected Horcoff in the 4th round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Michigan State University, Horcoff began his NHL career in 2000-01 with the Edmonton Oilers. He has been a fixture in the Oilers lineup for the past 11 seasons, over which time he netted in excess of 150 goals and 425 points. Horcoff shined bright during the Oilers exciting playoff run in 2005-06 that saw them fall to the Hurricanes in game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals. He chipped in a solid 7 goals and 19 points in 24 playoff contests.

The 2003 Heritage Classic was the first NHL game to be played outdoors during the regular season. It pitted the Montreal Canadiens against the hometown Edmonton Oilers and was played at Commonwealth Stadium on November 22nd 2003. Despite sub zero temperatures, better than 57,000 fans turned out to witness NHL history.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the NHL’s Vintage patch. The game wear on this 2nd period size 58 sweater is light, as would be expected, with a handful of small stick marks worthy of mention. On the inside crest is a beautiful black sharpie autograph in Shawn's own hand with the notation "it was damn cold!". Shown above is a beautiful action photo taken of Horcoff during that historic game. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. Sewn alongside is the official Canadian Heritage Classic game worn jersey and set tagging. A terrific piece of history from a truly historic game. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
