2003-04 Jason Smith Edmonton Oilers Pre-Game Warm-Up Jersey - Heritage Classic Vintage Team Letter
Lot #152

On November 22, 2003, the Edmonton Oilers hosted the Montreal Canadiens in the league’s first ever modern-era outdoor game in front of a record crowd of 57,000+ freezing fans in Commonwealth Stadium with millions more watching on television around the world. This white jersey by CCM and Elite Sportswear was worn by Jason Smith during pre game warm-ups for the Heritage Classic on November 22, 2003. The New Jersey Devils selected Smith in the 1st round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. After making his NHL debut in 1993-94 and spending parts of 4 seasons with the Devils, Smith played in parts of 3 more in Toronto before joining the Edmonton Oilers where he cleared creases for parts of 8 seasons. Smith’s final 2 NHL stops came in Philadelphia and Ottawa. This 15-year veteran played in 1008 NHL games and accumulated 1099 PIMS along the way.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn to the right breast is the Vintage “V”. This 4th set size 58 sweater is tagged on the inside hem with a specially created tag indicating that it was worn during the Canadian Heritage Classic, with the date of the game. Sewn alongside is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. A beautiful offering from a historic night in NHL history. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
