2002 Pierre Turgeon Team Canada Olympic Training Camp Jersey
Lot #308

This blue air-knit and mesh combo by Nike was worn by Pierre Turgeon during the 2002 Team Canada Olympic Training Camp. This 19-year veteran was the 1st overall pick by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1987 NHL entry draft. He played for 5 seasons in Buffalo, before being dealt to the New York Islanders in a deal for Hall of Famer Pat LaFontaine. Pierre spent 4 years on the Island, before moving about to Montreal where he would serve as Captain, St. Louis, Dallas and Colorado. In nearly 1300 games played, Pierre tabbed 515 goals and 1327 points. He won the 1992-93 Lady Byng Memorial Trophy awarded to the player who best exhibited sportsmanship and high ability. Having achieved the 500-goal plateau and averaging better than a point per game during his career, this 4-time NHL All Star will undoubtedly land in the Hall of Fame in the near future.

Sewn to the back of this sweater is the “Respect” patch. The wear on this size 58 Nike jersey is on the lighter side, a commonality amongst the blue colored set of sweaters. Pierre’s surname and number are sewn to the verso while the red, black and green Team Canada crest is sewn proudly to the chest. A nice international offering donned by this future Hall of Famer as he competed for a spot on the 2002 Team Canada Olympic Team.
