2002-03 Paul Kariya Anaheim Mighty Ducks Game Worn Jersey - All Star Season
Lot #139

This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Paul Kariya during the 2002-03 NHL season. The Anaheim Mighty Ducks selected Kariya with the 4th overall pick in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. Kariya spent two seasons with the University of Maine where he won the Hobey Baker Award in 1992-93. Following time with the Canadian National team, Kariya would become the face of the franchise after beginning his NHL career in 1994-95. Paul spent 9 seasons with the Mighty Ducks where he served as their Team Captain for most of those 9 seasons. Kariya went on to play for the Avalanche, Predators and Blues before retiring in 2011 after 15 NHL seasons. His dynamic career was plagued by injury, stunting his career totals. Nevertheless, Kariya scored 402 goals and added 587 assists for 989 points on 989 games played. Kariya is a 50-goal and 100-point club member who played in 7 NHL All Star Games. He also earned four 1st Team and a pair of 2nd Team NHL All Star selections. This 2-time Olympian was a 2-time winner of the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy. The Hockey Hall of Fame recognized Kariya’s career with an induction in the class of 2017.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this 1st set size 52 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. A fantastic well-worn example that sports the coveted letter of honor and was donned by the face of the Mighty Ducks franchise during the last of his 7 All Star seasons as he led his Mighty Ducks to their first ever Stanley Cup Finals!
