2002-03 Mats Sundin Toronto Maple Leafs Game Worn Jersey – Alternate – "HHOF” - Photo Match – Hockey Hall of Fame Letter
Lot #97
This white air-knit and mesh alternate gamer by Koho was worn by Mats Sundin twice during the 2002-03 NHL season. Sundin was the 1st overall selection in the 1989 NHL entry draft by the Quebec Nordiques where he began his career. He played in Quebec for 4 seasons and set a personal best during his 3rd year in the league with a 47-goal and 114-point outburst. Mats joined the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994 and became one of the Leafs all-timers. Mats would spend the bulk of his career with the Leafs, 13 years in all before one final season with the Canucks.

Sundin rang up impressive career stats. To his credit are 564 goals, 785 assists and 1349 points. Sundin played in 8 NHL All Star games, the 1991 Canada Cup where he was named to the Canada Cup All Star team, two World Cups of Hockey along with a 1996 World Cup All Star selection and three Olympics where he valiantly represented Team Sweden. Sundin also has two 2nd Team NHL All Star selections to his credit along with the 2008 Mark Messier Leadership Award. Sundin is looked upon as one of the most consistent players of his generation and was deservingly honored with a place in Hockey’s Hall of Fame.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. Sewn to the right breast is the 4th Annual Hockey Hall of Fame patch. Sundin first wore this sweater during a 2-2 OT tie in Montreal on October 19th 2002. The jersey was then placed back into service with the patch added for the November 2nd 2002 Hockey Hall of Fame game. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of a good number of stick and slash marks that are found on the front, back and both sleeves along with board burns and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Sundin wearing this exact jersey during the Hall of Fame game on November 2nd 2002. Sewn to the inside hem is the official NHL game worn jersey tagging. A terrific patched and photo matched example that was donned by the recent face of the franchise and a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame’s class of 2012, choice! This jersey will be accompanied by a Hockey Hall of Fame letter.
