After playing in his native Finland with Jokerit Helsinki, Rita made his NHL debut in 2001-02 with a 1-game stint with the Oilers. Jani spent parts of four seasons in an Edmonton uniform and another partial year with the Pittsburgh Penguins before returning to Helsinki and playing there for another 10 seasons.
