Description
2002-03 Brian McGrattan Binghamton Senators Game Worn Jersey - "M&T" - 1st year Senators - Team Letter
Lot #476

This white knit and mesh gamer by SP was worn by Brian McGrattan during the 2002-03 AHL season. McGrattan was a 4th round draft selection of the LA Kings in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. After spending 5 years in the OHL, Brian joined the Ottawa Senators organization and suited up with their AHL affiliate in Binghamton for 3 seasons before cracking their NHL roster. McGrattan spent 3 years in Ottawa before a year each with Phoenix, Calgary and most recently Boston.

The AHL quickly took notice of McGrattan’s physical style of play. Craving for a job in the NHL, Brian ran roughshot over the AHL much to the delight of his Binghamton teammates. In his first year Brian put forth 173 PIMS in 59 contests, not enough to earn an NHL job. In his 2nd season in Binghamton, Brian racked up 327 PIMS in 66 contests. It still wasn’t enough to crack Ottawa’s lineup. His final season in the AHL did the trick. Brian got handed an incredible 551 PIMS in 71 games played! One could only imagine what he had planned for year 4!?!

Worn during McGrattan’s 1st season with Binghamton, which also happened to be the 1st season of the franchise, this sweater features the M&T sponsorship patch, which is sewn to the right breast. A unique alteration exists to the nameplate. As this was Brian’s first year with the club, the staff misspelled his name. This jersey was worn this way until the error was noticed, at which point it was corrected. It continued to be worn by Brian after the correction. These facts are all included on the accompanying team LOA. Light use exists with signs of fight abuse evident on the collar which has been torn apart at the base.
