2001-02 Wade Belak Toronto Maple Leafs Gam Worn Jersey – “2001 HHOF patch” - 24-PIMS Game – Team Letter
Lot #137

This white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Wade Belak during the 2001-02 NHL season.  The Quebec Nordiques selected Belak in the 1st round of the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. Belak spent the first three years of his 14-year NHL career with the Colorado Avalanche. He would go on to represent the Calgary Flames, Toronto Maple Leafs, Florida Panthers and the Nashville Predators. This towering defenseman played the role of enforcer during his career, having compiled 1263 PIMS in 549 career games. Belak’s single season best came in 2002-03 with the Leafs where he put up 196 PIMS in 55 games played. Tragically Belak’s life ended at just 35 years of age in 2011.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 2001 Hockey Hall of Fame patch. The game wear on this Hall of Fame set size 58 sweater consists of stick marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fight abuse with a torn and stitch popped front collar, a torn and un-repaired rear collar and inner pilling. The Maple Leafs wore this set of sweaters as they took on the New Jersey Devils on November 10, 2001. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Toronto Maple Leafs game worn jersey and Hall of Fame set tagging. Belak recorded 24 PIMS during the game including a couple of minors for slashing and high sticking, two 5-minute majors for fighting and a game misconduct! A terrific patched sweater of this beloved enforcer. This jersey will be accompanied by a Maple Leafs team letter.
