2001-02 Mike Peca New York Islanders Game Worn Jersey - Selke Trophy - Photo Match
Lot #202

This road blue air-knit gamer by Koho was worn by Mike Peca during the 2001-02 NHL season. The Vancouver Canucks selected Peca in the 2nd round of the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Peca made his NHL debut with Vancouver in 1993-94 and spent 2 seasons with the Canucks before joining the Buffalo Sabres for a 5-year stint beginning in 1995-96. After suffering a serious injury in 2000, Peca missed the 2000-01 season and resumed his career with the New York Islanders in 2001-02. After 3 seasons on the Island, Peca spent a year in Edmonton, another in Toronto and a final two in Columbus before retiring. Peca was a 2-time winner of the Frank J Selke Trophy as the leagues best defensive forward and represented Team Canada in the 2002 Olympics.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The body of this gamer has been custom shortened while the sleeves have been custom shortened and taken in for Peca by the team. The game wear on this playoff set size 56 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Peca wearing this exact jersey during the 2002 NHL playoffs in Toronto. Sewn to the inside hem is the official New York Islanders game worn jersey and set tagging. Nice photo matched Captain’s gamer from Peca’s 2nd Selke Trophy winning season.
