This road red air-knit gamer by Koho was worn by David Tanabe during the 2001-02 NHL season. The Carolina Hurricanes selected Tanabe in the 1st round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. This White Bear Lake, MN native played his college hockey at the University of Wisconsin before making his NHL debut in 1999-00 with the Hurricanes. Tanabe spent four years with Carolina before playing with Phoenix and Boston for a couple of seasons. David then returned to the Hurricanes where he played the final two years of his 8-year NHL career after suffering a serious concussion in a game against the Maple Leafs.
The game wear on this 2nd set size 56 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer and inner pilling. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Tanabe wearing this exact jersey during the 2001-02 season. On the inside hem is the official Carolina Hurricanes game worn jersey and set stamp. On the left breast of this jersey is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Tanabe’s own hand.
