2000 Randy McKay World All Stars Game Worn Jersey – “K-141” - Fetisov’s Farewell Game
Lot #169

This red mesh gamer by Lutch was worn by Randy McKay during the August 2000 Farewell Game of Slava Fetisov. The Detroit Red Wings selected McKay in the 6th round of the 1985 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his college hockey at Michigan Tech University and graduating in 1988, McKay made his NHL debut with the Detroit Red Wings in 1988-89. After 3 seasons with the Wings, McKay joined the New Jersey Devils in 1991-92. McKay spent 11 seasons in New Jersey, winning the Stanley Cup in 1995 and 2000. He finished up his career with a short stint in Dallas and a final season with the Montreal Canadiens. McKay played the role of enforcer with the Devils and ended his career with 1731 PIMS in 932 regular season games. This tough guy strung together 3 consecutive 200+ PIMS seasons immediately after arriving in New Jersey.

Affixed to the right breast is the K-141 “Kypck” logo to honor the 118 people who perished in the sinking of the Kursk K-141 submarine on August 12, 2000. The game wear on this size 54 sweater is on the lighter side as would be expected with some stick and slash marks and a few board burns most worthy of mention. A wonderful memento from an important night in Russian Hockey history as their nation mourned the loss of the 118 countrymen whose lives had just been lost, while simultaneously honoring Hall of Famer Slava Fetisov.
