Since the NHL began requiring Stanley Cup Finals patches on their game jerseys in 1989, there have been a few notable sets that have eluded collectors. The 2000 Stanley Cup Finals patched New Jersey Devils are one of those sets. These gamers were not part of any official program and most were taken home by the players themselves. Because of this, these gamers are on virtually every Stanley Cup collectors want list.

It was explained to us that the Devils only ordered 2 primary sets of jerseys and a few extras for use during the entire 1999-00 season. The 1st set saw the bulk of regular season action before the set 2 gamers took over and carried the team to the Stanley Cup. This home white air-knit gamer by Pro Player was worn by Claude Lemieux during the 1999-00 NHL season and playoffs. Lemieux recently concluded a 20-year NHL career that is likely to be recognized with induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame at some future date.

Claude was the consumate winner, who had the unique ability to raise his level of play when the playoffs rolled around. Claude led his teams to 4 Stanley Cup titles and ranks among the all-time elite in playoff scoring. Claude partook in 233 playoff games and scored 158 points while racking up 529 PIMS. He was awarded with the 1995 Conn Smythe Trophy after leading the New Jersey Devils to their first ever Stanley Cup championship. His regular season career totals include 379 goals, 785 points and 1756 PIMS. Claude also holds the distinction of being one of the leagues most despised players by the opposition. He was a solid 2-way player that was considered feisty or dirty depending on who you asked.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the 2000 Stanley Cup Finals patch. Sewn just above this is the year 2000 NHL patch. On the inside hem is the official New Jersey Devils set-2 team stamp. The game wear is solid consisting of stick marks, board burns, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. We were told that this jersey was in fact one of two which were alternated through the playoffs and Stanley Cup Finals.
