2000-01 Mats Sundin NHL All Star Game Worn Jersey - "Colorado 2001 All Star Game" - NHL Letter
Lot #157
This red World Team air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Mats Sundin during the 1st period of the 2001 NHL All Star game. Sundin was the 1st overall selection in the 1989 NHL entry draft by the Quebec Nordiques where he began his career. He played in Quebec for 4 seasons before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1994. Mats would spend the bulk of his career with the Leafs, 13 years in all before one final season with the Canucks.

Sundin rang up impressive career stats. To his credit are 564 goals, 785 assists and 1349 points. Sundin played in 8 NHL All Star games, the 1991 Canada Cup where he was named to the Canada Cup All Star team, two World Cups of Hockey along with a 1996 World Cup All Star selection and three Olympics where he valiantly represented Team Sweden. Sundin also has two 2nd Team NHL All Star selections to his credit along with the 2008 Mark Messier Leadership Award. Mats was one of the most consistent players of his generation and will no doubt be honored with a place in Hockey’s Hall of Fame upon eligibility.

This snazzy All Star gamer features a short-lived design that features a crossover V-neck over which lays a formally designed shirt collar. Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the Colorado All Star game patch. Sewn to the left breast are the NHL shield and Sundin’s player number 13. Sewn to the left shoulder is the flag of Team Sweden while the Toronto Maple Leafs team logo is sewn to the right shoulder. The back of this sweater features Sundin’s name sewn beneath his player number on which lies a black sharpie signature in Sundin’s own hand. Embroidered alongside the NHL shield on the lower right hem is the NHLPA logo. Affixed to the fight strap is a rectangular patch on which is the official NHL game worn jersey authenticity number. This jersey was worn by Sundin during the 1st period of the 2001 NHL All Star game. The game wear, while being on the light side, does appear visible in the form of a couple of handfuls of smallish stick marks scattered about the front hem and left sleeve along with some light but visible sweat stains concentrated along the heavy designed shirt collar. A nice piece of NHL All Star game history worn by this future Hall of Famer during the prime of his career. This jersey will be accompanied by an NHL letter.
