2000-01 Darius Kasparaitis Pittsburgh Penguins Game Worn Jersey
Lot #141

This road black air-knit gamer by Koho was worn by Darius Kasparaitis during the 2000-01 NHL season. The New York Islanders selected Kasparaitis with the 5th overall pick in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. Darius began his career on Long Island in 1992-93 where he and the Islanders stunned the two-time defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins en route to the Semi Finals. Kasparaitis quickly became a fan favorite, possessing a nasty edge to his game and getting known as one of the league’s most gifted agitators. In 863 NHL games, he amassed 1379 well earned PIMS. Following his time on the Island, he served with the Penguins for 6 seasons, had a brief stint with the Avalanche and finally played with the Rangers for four years. Darius represented Russia in the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and in the Olympics.

The game wear on this size 52 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. Removed from the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. Kasparaitis tallied yet another 100+ PIMS season, ringing up 111 PIMS during the 2000-01 season while wearing this sweater during road games.
