This red air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Ed Belfour during the 1999 NHL All Star Game in Tampa Bay. This Hall of Fame goaltender began his 18-year NHL career with the Blackhawks back in 1988 after winning a National Championship for the Fighting Sioux at the University of North Dakota in his only collegiate season. He tended goal for 9 seasons in Chicago, part of 1 season in San Jose, 5 in Dallas, 3 in Toronto and spent a final year in Florida before calling it quits. During that time Ed rocketed to 3rd on the all-time Wins list in NHL history, retiring with 484 Wins alongside a most impressive 2.50 GAA.
Belfour is tied with another Blackhawks legend, Tony Esposito, for 9th on the all-time shutouts list with 76. He won the Calder Trophy as rookie of the year in 1990-91, 4 Jennings Trophies and 2 Vezina Trophies as the leagues best goalie. “The Eagle” played in 5 NHL All Star games and was 3 times a 1st or 2nd team NHL All Star. Belfour also is a winner of hockey’s most prized possession, the Stanley Cup which he won with the Dallas Stars in 1999.
Eddie “The Eagle” quickly became a fan favorite in Chicago. During his first full season with the club, he played in a career best 74 games, one of 3 times that Ed appeared in 70+ games during his career. The following season Belfour backstopped the Hawks to the Stanley Cup Finals, where they eventually fell to the Lemieux led Penguins in 1992 despite his playoff heroics. Eddie will forever be looked upon as one of the best of his generation and will always hold a special place in the hearts of Blackhawks fans.
Sewn to the right shoulder of this gamer is the 1999 Tampa Bay NHL All Star Game patch. Sewn to the right breast is the Canadian Flag. Sewn to the left shoulder is the Dallas Stars logo. Use is tough to discern on this size 58 goalie cut sweater in typical All Star Game fashion. On the back player number is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Belfour’s own hand. Sewn to the fight strap is the official NHL game worn inventory code. An attractive autographed All Star gamer that was worn by this former UND alum and NHL Hall of Fame goalie.
