1999-00 Marty McSorley Boston Bruins Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match - Team Letter
Lot #545

This road black air-knit gamer by Pro Player was worn by Marty McSorley during the 1999-00 NHL season. McSorley spent 17 seasons running roughshot over the NHL. During that time, Marty partook in 961 regular season contests that saw him amass 3381 PIMS, good for 4th best of all time. In 115 playoff contests he totaled another 374 PIMS.

During his career, McSorley went to 3 Stanley Cup Finals, all while skating alongside Wayne Gretzky. The first two were winning efforts in Edmonton, while the last was unsuccessful with the Kings in 1993. Marty’s career began in Pittsburgh and his stay there was brief, playing parts of 2 seasons before joining the Oilers in 1985-86. After 2 seasons in Edmonton, Marty joined the Kings where he played for parts of the next 8 seasons. McSorley next spent 2 years with San Jose, one with Edmonton and then a final season with the Boston Bruins before announcing his retirement.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the year 2000 NHL patch. The game wear on this size 58 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Fight abuse is readily evident with the remnants of significant bloodstains found down the front of this gamer. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of McSorley wearing this exact jersey during the 1999-00 season, Marty’s last. Shown above, for your enjoyment, are highlights of the Bruins vs Canucks game that ultimately ended Marty’s career. McSorley received a 1-year suspension for the vicious slash that connected with Canucks enforcer Donald Brashear’s head. This photo matched example, complete with nice game use and plenty of blood, was worn by McSorley during his final NHL season and should attract plenty of interest from fight collectors. This jersey will be accompanied by a Bruins team letter.
