1999-00 Freddy Oduva Calgary Flames Training Camp Worn Jersey
Lot #109
This home white air-knit gamer by Pro Player was worn by Freddy Oduya during training camp in 1999-00, during his time with the Calgary Flames. The San Jose Sharks selected Oduya in the 6th round of the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. This Stockholm native and older brother to two-time Stanley Cup champ Johnny Oduya played his junior hockey with Guelph and the Ottawa 67’s. Freddy spent five seasons in the IHL and AHL where he earned his nickname’s “Freddy Knuckles” and “The Swedish Nightmare”. This enforcer played in 283 minor league games and amassed an astounding 1125 PIMS that included a pair of 300 PIMS seasons! “The Swedish Nightmare” retired due to a back injury in 2000 before coming out of retirement five years later to compete in Europe for a couple of seasons. Sadly, Freddy passed away in a motorcycle accident in 2011 in Europe.

Sewn to the right breast of this gamer is the year 2000 patch. The game wear on this 1st set size 58 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, pilling and stitch popping at the front collar along with washed out bloodstains and inner pilling. On the inside hem is the official Calgary Flames game worn jersey and set stamp. This jersey represented Freddy’s last chance at an NHL roster spot shortly before a back injury forced his retirement. This is the only sweater of “Freddy Knuckles” we’ve ever had the pleasure to offer. A great opportunity for the fight fans to pick up a nice one from this Swedish enforcer who left us far too early.
