1998-99 Rob Blake Los Angeles Kings Game Worn Jersey

This road black air-knit gamer by Starter was worn by Rob Blake during the 1998-99 NHL season. The Los Angeles Kings selected Blake in the 4th round of the 1988 NHL Entry Draft. After playing his award laden college hockey at Bowling Green State University, Blake made his NHL debut in 1989-90 with the Kings where he played for 14 of his 20 NHL seasons. He would also represent the Colorado Avalanche and San Jose Sharks. Rob became one of the best defensemen of his generation and was awarded the Norris Trophy in 1997-98. His first and only Stanley Cup was won in 2001 with the Avalanche. Blake scored 240 goals and 777 points to go along with 1679 PIMS. Blake played in 7 NHL All Star Games and was four times a 1st or 2nd Team NHL All Star. On the international stage, Blake represented Team Canada in the World Championships, the inaugural 1996 World Cup of Hockey and in three Olympics. In fact, Blake earned the honor of best defenseman at the 1998 Olympics as well as the 1997 World Championships. Blake was deservingly inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame in the class of 2014.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this 1st set size 58 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fine inner pilling and a handful of team-sewn repairs. Penned in the collar in black sharpie is the notation “98/99 1” with the equipment man’s initials alongside. A fantastic well-worn example, complete with the coveted letter of honor from the prime of this Hall of Famer’s illustrious career.
