Description
1998-99 Mikhail Shtalenkov Edmonton Oilers Game Worn Jersey - Photo Match - Team Letter
Lot #287
This road blue air-knit gamer by CCM and Elite Sportswear was worn by Mikhail Shtalenkov during the 1998-99 NHL season. After spending 6 years with Moscow Dynamo that included USSR rookie of the year honors in 1986, Mikhail came to North America and began his professional career. After winning the Garry Longman Memorial Trophy as the IHL’s best rookie in 1992-93, he joined the expansion Anaheim Mighty Ducks in 1993-94 and tended goal for them for the next 5 seasons. He next spent a partial year in Edmonton that was followed by a year plus in Phoenix and a partial season with the Florida Panthers. On the international scene, Shtalenkov represented his native Russia in the 1991 Canada Cup, the 1990 Super Series, a handful of World Championships and two Olympics. During the 1992 Winter Games, Russia won a Gold Medal thanks to Shtalenkov’s outstanding 7 wins in 8 games including a shutout and a 1.64 GAA. The 1998 Winter Games saw Shtalenkov win a Silver Medal as he won 4 of his 5 games and posted another miniscule 1.65 GAA.

The game wear on this set 1 sweater consists of stick and puck marks, some burns, a few un-repaired skate slices and heavy pilling on both sleeves thanks to Mikhail’s goalie gloves. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Shtalenkov wearing this exact jersey during the 1998-99 season, his only year in Edmonton. Sewn to the inside hem is the official Edmonton Oilers game worn jersey and set tagging. Nice offering worn by this former Soviet hero. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
