This home white air-knit gamer by CCM and Elite Sprtswear was worn by Marty McSorley during the 1998-99 NHL season. McSorley spent 17 seasons running roughshot over the NHL. During that time, Marty partook in 961 regular season contests that saw him amass 3381 PIMS, good for 4th best of all time. In 115 playoff contests he totaled another 374 PIMS.
During his career, McSorley went to 3 Stanley Cup Finals, all while skating alongside Wayne Gretzky. The first two were winning efforts in Edmonton, while the last was unsuccessful with the Kings in 1993. Marty’s career began in Pittsburgh and his stay there was brief, playing parts of 2 seasons before joining the Oilers in 1985-86. After 2 seasons in Edmonton, Marty joined the Kings where he played for parts of the next 8 seasons. McSorley next spent 2 years with San Jose, one more with Edmonton and then a final season with the Boston Bruins before announcing his retirement.
The 1998-99 season marked McSorley’s return to Edmonton. Offered here is Marty’s 2nd set size 58 jersey offering a custom double skate lace fight strap. The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, some general filth, inner pilling and in excess of a couple dozen team-sewn repairs! Sewn to the inside hem is the official Edmonton Oilers game worn jersey and set tagging. The tremendous wear on this one leaves little doubt about the effort Marty put forth in front of the Edmonton fans. This jersey will be accompanied by an Oilers team letter.
