1998-99 Frank Bialowas Indianapolis Racers Game Worn Jersey - WHA Throwback - Final IHL Game in Indy
Lot #235

This red WHA throwback air-knit gamer by OT Sports was worn by Frank Bialowas during the final game of the 1998-99 IHL season, the last in Indianapolis IHL history. Bialowas played in 3 NHL games for the Toronto Maple Leafs during their memorable 1993-94 season. “The Animal” is one of minor league hockey’s legendary enforcers, having put up some lofty PIMS totals in his day. He began his playing career in 1991-92 and became a legend in Philadelphia in the late 1990’s. Bialowas was part of the 1998 Phantoms Calder Cup winning squad. Frank was inducted to the Philadelphia Phantoms Hall of Fame in 2005.

This sweater, featuring sewn-on numbers and lettering was customized by the team for “The Animal” with extra panels sewn into the sides and extending from the hem into the upper sleeves. Light game wear exists on this size XXXL sweater as would be expected. The Indianapolis Ice produced just one set of these jerseys, worn during their final game and auctioned to their fans in attendance that night. Indianapolis paid tribute to their past that evening, wearing a throwback to their WHA days, where Wayne Gretzky made his professional debut during the Indianapolis Racers final season in 1978-79. A beautiful one of a kind offering, worn by Frank “The Animal” Bialowas during that historic night in Indy.
