Description
1998-99 Dan Boyle Kentucky Thoroughblades Game Worn Jersey - "ABC" - Rookie
Lot #474
This home white air-knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Dan Boyle during the 1998-99 NHL season, his rookie year. After spending 4 years at the University of Miami, Ohio, Boyle joined the Florida Panthers organization in 1998-99. Dan started the year with the Kentucky Thoroughblades, where he played in 53 contests. He would tap the Panthers lineup for a total of 22 games that season. Boyle played for parts of 4-years with the Panthers before a deal sent him across the state to the Tampa Bay Lightning. He would spend 6 seasons in Tampa before joining the San Jose Sharks where he is now in his 3rd season with the club. Boyle became one of the league’s standout rearguards as evidenced by his two 2nd Team NHL All Star selections as well as an NHL All Star game appearance. Already with a 20-goal season to his credit and several more of 15+, this point producing defenceman shows no signs of slowing down.

Offered here is Boyle’s Kentucky Thoroughblades gamer from his rookie season. In 53 contests in the AHL that year, Boyle scored 8 goals and 42 points to go along with 87 PIMS. He would later chip in another 3 goals, 8 points and 16 PIMS in 12 playoff contests. The game wear on this sweater is solid. It is littered with stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes, some washed out bloodstains, inner pilling and more than a handful of team-sewn repairs. Fight abuse is readily evident on the collar, which was torn at its rear and re-stitched while the front of the neckline houses numerous stitch pops which undoubtedly came at the hands of angry combatants. The ABC sponsorship patch adorns the right breast while a black sharpie signature in Boyle’s own hand sits on the left breast. The year and 1st set designation resides on the fight strap. A fine minor league offering.
