1998-99 Bob Probert Chicago Blackhawks Game Worn Jersey
Lot #93

This home white air-knit gamer by Nike was worn by Bob Probert during the 1998-99 NHL season. The Detroit Red Wings selected Probert in the 3rd round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft. Probert made his NHL debut in 1985-86 with the Red Wings where he played for 9 years. It didn’t take long for Bob to make his presence felt, chipping in 21 points and 186 PIMS in 44 games as a rookie. The following two seasons Probert and the Wings made trips to the Conference Finals, where they fell both times to the Oilers dynasty. During that time, Probert established himself as the NHL’s top enforcer and became a serious fan favorite. Following some off-ice problems and a year away from the sport, Probert’s career landed him in Chicago where he ran roughshod over the league for the next 7 seasons, picking up exactly where he had left off. All told, Bob played for 16 seasons in the NHL and is 5th on the NHL’s all-time penalty minute leaders list with 3300 PIMS! Considered one of the most feared men who ever laced up the skates, this tough guy will never be forgotten by the fans that witnessed his wrath. Sadly, Bob passed away at only 46 years of age in the summer of 2010.

The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, washed out bloodstains, areas of heavy pilling, a fight strap that has suffered some trauma along with a handful of team-sewn repairs including reinforcement to the front and back of the collar. Penned in black sharpie on the reverse of the NHL shield is 98-7. Affixed to the inside is the official Chicago Blackhawks registry tag. A tremendous example worn by this legendary pugilist during the last 200+ PIMS season of his storied career.
