This road burgundy air-knit gamer by Bauer was worn by Alex Tanguay during the 1998-99 AHL season. The Colorado Avalanche selected Tanguay in the 1st round of the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He joined the Avalanche organization late in the 1998-99 campaign when he appeared in 5 regular season and then 5 more playoff games with the Hershey Bears. Alex began his NHL career in 1999-00 with Colorado and spent the first 6 years of his career wearing the burgundy, blue and white colors of the Avalanche. During that span he won a Stanley Cup in only his 2nd NHL season, a year that saw him score 77 regular season points and 21 more in the playoffs. Tanguay has spent 4 of the last 6 seasons as a member of the Calgary Flames with single season stints in between with Montreal and Tampa. Thru the 2011-12 season, Tanguay had recorded an impressive 735 points in 882 career games and has also appeared in the NHL All Star game in representation of Colorado.
Offered here is Tanguay’s road AHL sweater from his brief 10 game pre-rookie stint with the Hershey Bears. The game wear on this size 56 sweater is solid and shows that the heralded rookie didn’t have it easy during his time in the AHL. There are plenty of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, pulls, inner pilling and a team-sewn repair. On the back player number is a beautiful black sharpie signature in Tanguay’s own hand. A terrific pre-rookie offering of this Left Winger who has his sights set on a 1000-point NHL career.
