The New Jersey Devils selected Commodore in the 2nd round of the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. Commodore played 3 seasons of college hockey for the Fighting Sioux at the University of North Dakota before making his NHL debut with the Devils in 2000-01. After 2 seasons in New Jersey, Mike went on to play for the Calgary Flames, Carolina Hurricanes, Ottawa Senators, Columbus Blue Jackets, Detroit Red Wings and Tampa Bay Lightning over the course of 11 NHL seasons. Commodore won the Stanley Cup in 2006 as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.
Commodore’s career at UND is legendary and culminated with the NCAA championship in 2000. In 106 career games played, Commodore, who stands 6’ 4” and weighed in at 225 lbs., amassed 382 PIMS and is still looked upon as one of the most beloved players in school history.
