Lot #188

This home white knit gamer by Starter was worn by Vincent Damphousse during the 1997-98 NHL season. The Toronto Maple Leafs selected Damphousse with the 6th overall pick in the 1986 NHL Entry Draft. Vincent began an 18-year NHL career in 1986-87 with the Leafs, where he played for 5 years. Vinny next spent a year with the Oilers before joining the Montreal Canadiens in 1992-93. During his first of 7 seasons in Montreal, Damphousse won the only Stanley Cup of his career. His last stop was in San Jose, where he played for 6 years. After 1378 games played, Damphousse had lit the lamp 432 times and added 773 assists for a total of 1205 points. Damphousse, a 40-goal man, was a member of Team Canada’s 1996 World Cup squad and also played in 3 NHL All Star games.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the Captain’s “C”. The game wear on this 1st set size 56 sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, stitch pops, material pulls, fine inner pilling and several team-sewn repairs. Shown above is a beautiful photo match of Damphousse wearing this exact jersey during the 1997-98 season. A beautiful well-worn photo matched gamer complete with letter of honor that was worn by this 400-goal & 1200-point club member.
