Description
1997-98 Sandy McCarthy Calgary Flames Game Worn Jersey
Lot #78
This home white air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Sandy McCarthy during the 1997-98 NHL season, his last with the Flames. The Calgary Flames selected McCarthy in the 3rd round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. This legendary enforcer played his junior hockey with the Laval Titans and spent a season with the IHL’s Salt Lake Golden Eagles before making his NHL debut in 1993-94 with Calgary. McCarthy spent five seasons with the Flames before representing the Lightning, Flyers, Hurricanes, Rangers and Bruins. McCarthy’s career spanned 736 games over the course of 11 seasons that saw him rack up 1534 PIMS while standing toe to toe with every heavyweight willing to take him on.

The game wear on this 2nd set size 56 Goalie cut sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, fight abuse with washed out bloodstains, a torn and un-repaired rear collar, stich popping and loose threads, along with pilling. The left breast shows the outline of the alternate Captain’s “A”, whilst the inner hem sports the official Calgary Flames game worn jersey and set stamp. This enforcer played his final 52 games with Calgary and amassed 170 PIMS, wearing this sweater prior to being traded to the Lightning in late March of 1998. A terrific example that marked the end of McCarthy’s time in Calgary.
