1997-98 Roman Turek Dallas Stars Game Worn Jersey – Rookie – Team Letter
Lot #147

This road black air-knit gamer by CCM was worn by Roman Turek during the 1997-98 NHL season, his rookie year. The Minnesota North Stars selected Turek in the 6th round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. This Czech native backstopped his country to a Gold Medal at the 1996 World Championships. Roman made his NHL debut in 1996-97 with the Dallas Stars. Turek won a Stanley Cup and the William M. Jennings Trophy with Dallas in 1999. He was then dealt to St. Louis for fear of losing him to the Thrashers in their expansion draft. Roman had an epic season in his first year with St. Louis starting 67 games for the Blues in 1999-00. He was named 2nd team NHL All Star while capturing another William M. Jennings Trophy, playing in the 2000 NHL All Star Game and finishing runner up for the Vezina Trophy. Turek then spent the last 3 years of his NHL career with the Calgary Flames. Turek’s career 2.31 GAA is the 13th best in the history of the NHL.

The game wear on this 1st set size 60 Goalie Cut sweater includes stick and puck marks, a mini un-repaired gash to the front hem and some nice collar pilling. Turek served as Ed Belfour’s backup in Dallas during his first full NHL season while wearing this sweater. Roman appeared in 23 games, posting 11 Wins against 10 Losses and a Tie with a Shutout to go along with a stellar 2.22 GAA. Penned in the collar is the year designation “97-98”. A nice example worn by this NHL All Star during the early part of his NHL career. This jersey will be accompanied by a Stars team letter.
