This road burgundy air-knit gamer by Starter was worn by Peter Forsberg during the 1997-98 NHL season. The Philadelphia Flyers selected Forsberg in the 1st round of the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. This Swedish native soon became the necessary piece that pried Eric Lindros away from the Quebec Nordiques in one of the decade’s blockbuster trades. Forsberg made his NHL debut in 1994-95, where he played a lone season with the Nordiques prior to moving west with the franchise to Colorado. Peter would spend the next 9 seasons representing the Avalanche as they made one deep playoff run after another and won two Stanley Cups. Forsberg later went on to play for the Philadelphia Flyers and Nashville Predators before spending time in Europe and eventually returning to Colorado where he retired in 2011.

This gifted player was three times a 1st Team NHL All Star at Center and played in five NHL All Star Games. He was the winner of the Calder Trophy as the Rookie of the Year in 1994-95 while also capturing the Art Ross Trophy as the NHL’s scoring leader and the Hart Memorial Trophy as the NHL’s MVP in 2002-03. Internationally, he represented his native Sweden in numerous World Championships, two World Cups of Hockey and four Olympics! Sadly, Forsberg battled serious injuries throughout much of his career that limited him to 708 games played. During that time, he had rung up 249 goals and 636 assists for a total of 885 points. In 151 playoff games, Forsberg lit the lamp 64 times and added 107 assists for a total of 171 points. He was among the most talented players of his generation and, were it not for his battles with injury, his career totals would be significantly more impressive. Forsberg was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame with the class of 2014.

Proudly sewn to the left breast of this gamer is the alternate Captain’s “A”. The game wear on this size 56 sweater consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, un-repaired burn holes and inner pilling. Forsberg was his spectacular self during the 1997-98 season as he assisted on 66 goals good for third best league-wide and finished runner up for the Art Ross Trophy as NHL scoring leader with 91 points. He played in his second NHL All Star Game and earned his first-ever honor as 1st Team NHL All Star. This beautiful game worn jersey sports the coveted letter of honor and was worn by Hall of Famer, Peter Forsberg during one of his finest seasons. This sweater comes with impeccable provenance as it hails directly from the personal collection of Hall of Fame Goalie, Patrick Roy, whose letter will accompany your purchase, choice!
